Brine, a 22 percent saline solution, is used successfully in winter road maintenance. It is mixed in our brine generators from de-icing salt (ideally from brine/boiling salt) and drinking water and produced ready for use. It is then transported on equipment carriers using a brine tank and applied as required using a spray bar or a special spreader plate. Precise control of quantities and throwing distances is conveniently carried out from the vehicle cockpit.

Compared to conventional spreading systems, brine guarantees comprehensive thawing without drifting or displacing salt grains. Up to 75% less salt compared to dry salt spreading protects the environment and reduces the use of materials. Brine triggers the dew process immediately, without time-consuming recycling as with grit or other granulates.

The technology enables the mixture to be applied before slippery conditions occur, making it easier to plan winter service operations. Please note that the brine technology is not effective when the snow cover is frozen solid or temperatures are below -8°C. The brine tank superstructure offers additional flexibility for summer service applications such as pouring, washing or cleaning, without conversion.
